Adaptation
This was originally a small project I made with no clear goal of what to do with it. When Ace Jam came about, I came up with the idea of having the player-character potentially be a robot- I decided to link this into the theme of asexuality. Robots, of course, aren't built to have sex. But hey... some humans aren't either! So I decided to make that one of the PC's two consistent traits, the other being their love (in one form or another) for Cassandra.
...Beyond that, I didn't have any solid ideas, which is part of why the game ends so abruptly. I wanted to come up with a good ending, an explanation for what was actually happening, but I didn't have time, so I decided to just end it on a vaguely hopeful note.
The good news is that I did manage to pull off some of what I wanted to. I'm particularly proud of the reveal of Cassandra's name- The ability to click any of the matching letters on the page to reveal ones in the name was initially a bug, but I thought that it added an element of fun "chaos," and resolved itself as the player clicked through, so I decided to leave it. Someone also left a comment about the "██████" for the player name- I actually copied the "blank" characters from some article on the SCP wiki, but hey, it works!
Overall, though it was a bit of a mess in the end, I'm glad I did it. It does have some good points, and I should be able to implement some of the stuff I figured out easier in the future.
Yay for learning!
